There are moments in our life when communities come together to make a difference. I am telling you this story with the hopes that you can help. There are four children right here, in your community that need you. This is your moment.
On Friday October 10th, the Okanagan suffered an immeasurable loss. Mr. John Eisner the respected leader and chairman of the Okanagan Mission Youth Soccer Association passed away suddenly. John leaves behind to mourn his four children Justin, Joey, Max and Emily Eisner.
John will be remembered for his hearty sense of humor, brimming smile and most of all for his countless hours of volunteerism as not only chairman of OMYSA but also as a member of the Central Okanagan Youth Soccer Association governance committee. With close to 1500 kids playing soccer in the Mission alone now and over 5000 kids valley wide, the Club has grown into one of the most well run, well managed volunteer organizations for sport in the region. John was one of the Okanagans best mortgage brokers and he brought his business skills to running the Club efficiently and with a great sense of passion for youth as the future of our community.
If you are living in this community, currently have or did have children in soccer in the valley, they enjoy the privilege of playing this sport locally because of John. Probably without even knowing it, John has worked hard in some way for the betterment of your child, grandchild, neighbor or you. We now have to pay it forward and take care of his children in his absence.
The Board of Directors for OMYSA have formed a foundation called The John Eisner Family Fund to help support John’s children with their future education needs and will be hosting a silent auction on Monday, October 27th from 7:00 - 9:00 at the Hotel Eldorado. If you feel you could donate an item towards the auction, I encourage you to reply back to me with details. Alternatively, you are invited to join us at the Eldorado to either make a donation towards the fumd bid on items available.
I sat on the Board of Directors with John. I am so saddened by the loss and I humbly ask for your support during this very difficult time. If you needed help, direction, or just wanted to engage in a hearty, humorous conversation, John was your man. John leaves an enormous gap in the local soccer community but more importantly, is irreplaceable as a father and mentor to his children. Please help me support his family in the only way I know how and contribute to our silent auction. Official request letters can be provided. Monetary donations may be made out to The John Eisner Family Fund. The address of the fund is: Box 29076, RPO Okanagan Mission, Kelowna, BC, V1W 4A7. Administrator is Carol Price @ 764-4565.
Thank you for your time!!!
